We carried out a multitemporal 3D survey of the main staircase of the Municipal Casino of San Pellegrino Terme and the underlying spaces, with the goal of monitoring over time the stability of one of the most renowned examples of Italian Liberty-style architecture.
The challenge
The Casino of San Pellegrino Terme is a historic building of great architectural and symbolic value. Its monumental staircase, characterized by elegant decorations and complex geometries, requires constant monitoring to detect any structural movements or deformations that could compromise its preservation.
The “ad hoc” solution”
To ensure the highest level of precision, the survey was repeated at different times, enabling three-dimensional comparisons over time between the acquired models.
The analysis was conducted through:
- 3D comparison of surfaces
- measurement of reciprocal distances between a large number of carefully selected fixed points
- thus providing a precise and scientifically grounded assessment of the presence or absence of structural movements.
The result is a high-precision geometric monitoring system, which supports the protection and enhancement of one of Italy's most iconic Art Nouveau buildings.
