ICO Workshops

Comprehensive 3D survey supporting the redevelopment project of the Olivetti complex

We carried out a complete 3D survey of the ICO Workshops in Ivrea, supporting the redevelopment and transformation project of the historic Olivetti buildings, coordinated by the architectural firm CZA – Cino Zucchi Architetti.

The challenge

The ICO Workshops represent the historic core of the Olivetti industrial system, today part of the UNESCO World Heritage List (since 2018). The complex, developed in multiple phases between 1898 and 1958, extends over a vast area of significant architectural complexity, characterized by buildings constructed in different periods and with diverse techniques. Within the framework of the urban regeneration project that is bringing new life to this symbol of Italian industry, it was necessary to accurately update the entire technical and graphic documentation to support the subsequent phases of design and enhancement.

The “ad hoc” solution”

We carried out a complete three-dimensional survey of the site, combining laser scanning and high-resolution photogrammetry technologies to deliver a detailed and faithful 3D model of the existing conditions. The result is an accurate geometric and informational database, used as a reference for architectural design, conservation, and planning of reuse interventions.

The Result: A project that bridges technology and memory, placing the precision of 3D surveying at the service of the rebirth of an icon of Italian industrial architecture.
