We carried out a complete 3D survey of the Roman Theatre of Aosta<\/strong>, producing three-dimensional models and detailed orthophotos<\/strong> of all remains and structures that make up the monument. The intervention was aimed at creating a digital foundation for wall stratigraphic analysis, preparatory to the planning of restoration activities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Roman Theatre of Aosta is one of the best-preserved archaeological complexes in the Alpine arc, but also one of the most intricate from a historical and constructive perspective. The goal was to provide archaeologists and restorers with an integrated system<\/strong> to document, analyze, and correlate wall and stratigraphic data, maintaining the scientific rigor of archaeological methodology combined with the precision of digital surveying.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cad hoc\u201d solution\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We implemented a three-dimensional management platform<\/strong> based on the Ad Hoc AM software<\/strong>, which allows:
\n\u2013 compiling and drawing US and USM records<\/strong> directly in a 3D environment, \n
\u2013 producing phase and period plans<\/strong>, \n
\u2013 integrating stratigraphic sections<\/strong> and defining relationships between units, \n
\u2013 automatically generating and updating both the Matrix and the 3D Matrix<\/strong>.
\nThis digital infrastructure made it possible to systematize archaeological documentation<\/strong>, making it navigable, interactive, and linked to the 3D model<\/strong> of the monument. An approach that combines ultra-high-precision surveying and scientific methodology<\/strong>, laying the groundwork for advanced and informed management of restoration interventions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
