Infrastructures

Each Infrastructure such as roads, dams, bridges, railways, ... needs a specific and custom survey. One of the most important issue in the documentation and design of infrastructures that is often underestimated, is the correct management of reference systems.
We apply a rigorous and scientific approach in our surveys; our surveys are aimed at supporting the design of infrastructures, their real-time monitoring by using check points or an area approach via laser scanner or video/photogrammetry. We perform surveys along the whole lifecycle of an infrastructure, from the design, to the building and the as-built documentation, beside custom surveys about the state of decay of the structures and the managing of the maintenance activities.

We propose 3D laser scanner as-built surveys of roads, dams, bridges, railways, ... for i) stability and geomechanics analysis, ii) inventory of the state of degradation of the protective devices, iii) design of the plant maintenance activities, iv) planning of safety inspections.We integrate different survey techniques, from GPS to laser scanner, from terrestrial and aerial photogrammetry to topography, into own developed hardware and software systems that describe infrastructures in a short time and in a complete and homogeneous way, "frozen" at a given timestamp.

We provide our laser scanner surveys in Ad Hoc software platform with integrated tools for measures and ex-post evaluations on the geometry of the structure, the state of degradation or on plant design. The measures and analyzes of the 3D model are structured in an internal database in the AdHoc software. The data can be interrogated both by attribute or based on their spatial position, and displayed in a photo realistic 3D environment (eg. view all deteriorated joints larger than 2 m).

We produce 2D and 3D surveys for the geometric description, the census of the structures and of the signs in the road and railway field. We perform survey and monitoring campaign both of the infrastructures and the engineering structures.

We also carry out measurement and 2D and 3D monitoring campaigns of both infrastructures and engineering works.

Tache Tunnel

3D survey for monitoring purposes of Tache tunnel. The survey was carried out with GPS, laser scanner topography and photogrammetry. The 3D model was used for the geometric control while the true orthophoto is used with Ad Hoc MM for the degradation mapping and the multitemporal management.

3D survey of more than 20 km of roads by using our own-developed proprietary mobile mapping system DAHU shorten the onsite work. We produced a detailed description of the roads and of a 50 m buffer area along them, including ditches, buildings, viaducts and ground for the design of a wide shopping village.

3D geometric and photographic survey in the Mont Blanc Tunnel (one of the most important European highway tunnel, connecting Italy and France) for the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the tunnel. Design and building of a robotic solution for indoor Mobile Mapping. Delivery of a 3D Information Management System (GIS 3D). The position, dimension and features of the main facilities, water infiltrations and decay surveys have been extracted and visualized in a realistic 3D environment. Data and software have been installed onto a tablet for on-site use; custom reporting tools have been developed.

3D survey of the hydropower tunnel that links Pian Palù basin with the pipelines of the hydropower plant of Cogolo. Design and development of a custom Mobile Mapping System to face difficult environmental conditions: narrow spaces and presence of water on the floor. 3D survey of the Algiers Underground for the management of the waterproofing activities. We performed a 3D geometric and photographic survey before and after the interventions to precisely map them. By our virtual 3D models, it si possible to see of each area of intervention, to have information about position, kind, dimension and quantity of used materials, beside the before and after picture. We delivered a 3D Information Management System (GIS 3D) in the framework of the quality management system to avoid possible lawsuits: e.g. it is easy to check if new water infiltrations involve already treated areas.

3D laser scanner survey of the biggest African hydropower dam in Cahora Bassa, Mozambique. The survey was useful in the geotechnical analyses of the northern bank and for the design of the extension of the actual power station (North Bank Power Station Project). Our survey integrated local cartography, with the usual rigorous approach we have towards reference systems.

Tunnel in Cernobbio

3D survey of the highway tunnel 'Galleria Regina SS340' in Cernobbio, for the planning of the waterproof activities. In the survey the own-developed proprietary mobile mapping system DAHU was used to shorten the on site work. A thermal survey of the ceiling and linings of the tunnel was performed to better identify water infiltrations. A 3D Information Management System (GIS 3D) was delivered. The GIS 3D is a perfet fit for the mapping of water infiltrations and has custom tools for quick report generations; reports briefly sum up the position, dimension and kind of the needed intervention. Goeradar survey data were integrated in the 3D model to help in identify anomalies under the surface.

3D laser scanner survey of the Darsena Grande area in Milan in the framework of Expo 2015 works in the city. We integrated our 3D model with geophysical survey (radar plots and time-slice). By a dynamic analysis of the ground and underground situation, comprehensive sections were extracted, volumes were measured, and the position and feature of underground structures were identified.
